Torrential Rains Postpone Spanish Football Matches Amid Tragedy
Severe flash floods in southeastern Spain have forced the Spanish football federation to postpone Copa del Rey matches involving Levante and Valencia. The rescheduled games come as the region grapples with its worst floods in three decades, claiming at least 51 lives. LaLiga clubs express condolences to affected areas.
In the wake of catastrophic flash floods in southeastern Spain, the Spanish football federation (RFEF) has decided to postpone the Copa del Rey matches featuring Levante and Valencia, originally scheduled for Wednesday.
The deadly floods, described as the worst in three decades, have claimed at least 51 lives, leading authorities to recommend against all non-essential travel. Consequently, Valencia's match against Parla Escuela will now take place on Nov. 6 in Madrid, while Levante will meet Pontevedra on Nov. 7.
As the region continues to deal with the crisis, LaLiga clubs, including heavyweights Real Madrid and Barcelona, have offered their condolences to the victims. A minute of silence will be observed during Matchdays 12 and 13 in remembrance of those affected by the devastating rains.
