The Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) announced Monday that Ajinkya Rahane will captain the team in their upcoming Ranji Trophy match against Tripura. Rahane, a key player for the national team, will lead a 16-member squad featuring prominent names like Shreyas Iyer and Shams Mulani, though Suryakumar Yadav and Prithvi Shaw are notably absent despite playing in the previous game against Maharashtra.

The selection was finalized by the senior committee, comprising Sanjay Patil, Ravi Thaker, Jeetendra Thackeray, Kiran Powar, and Vikrant Yeligeti. An MCA statement confirmed, "The Senior Selection Committee has selected the players to represent Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy match against Tripura from October 26 to 29, 2024, at the MBB Stadium in Agartala."
