Amad Diallo Exits Ivory Coast Squad Due to Illness
Amad Diallo, the Manchester United forward, has withdrawn from the Ivory Coast's squad for Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers due to illness. This marks his first national recall since March 2023. Diallo's absence adds to United's list of international withdrawals including Garnacho, Mainoo, and Mazraoui.
Manchester United forward Amad Diallo has been forced to withdraw from the Ivory Coast squad for their Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches against Sierra Leone due to illness, the club announced on Wednesday.
The 22-year-old was recalled to the national team for the first time since March 2023 and played a role in recent victories against Zambia and Chad. However, his illness means he will not participate in the upcoming games.
Diallo is the fourth Manchester United player to pull out from international duty this week, following Argentine forward Alejandro Garnacho, England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo, and Moroccan defender Noussair Mazraoui. Ivory Coast, the reigning champions, face Sierra Leone in back-to-back qualifiers, starting with a home match on Friday.
