In the lead-up to India's bid for a hat-trick Test series win in Australia, cricketer Hanuma Vihari emphasized the irreplaceable role veteran batsman Cheteshwar Pujara played in the past two series. Pujara, who was the highest run-scorer in 2018-19 and a key player in the 2020-21 series, will be conspicuously absent this time around.

Speaking to PTI, Vihari expressed concerns over who would step into Pujara's shoes. 'Pujara will be a big miss. He was the backbone of the batting line-up, enduring blows, batting through tough periods, and making it easier for others,' he said. Vihari suggested Virat Kohli could potentially fill that role but noted the current team has more attacking-minded batsmen.

Vihari sees significant roles for K.L. Rahul and Rishabh Pant in the upcoming series, with Rahul likely batting at number six due to his experience in SENA countries. He also highlighted the importance of mental preparation, especially for younger players like Yashasvi Jaiswal, who will face a stern test in Australian conditions.
