Exciting matches unfolded on Day 5 of the 14th Hockey India Junior Men Championship 2024, with Odisha, Dadra and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Bengal securing significant wins. Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand ended their match in a draw.
In the first match, the Hockey Association of Odisha triumphed over Hockey Arunachal with an 8-0 scoreline. Pratap Toppo and Deepak Pradhan both netted braces, and additional goals came from Wison Xaxa, Karan Lakra, Premdayal Giri, and Deonath Nanwar.
Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman and Diu Hockey overwhelmed Assam Hockey 11-0 in the next match, bolstered by Pramod Pal's six-goal haul. Contributions also came from Mohan Krishna, Akash Gond, Yadav Ghanshyam, and Captain Rudranshu Maurya. Andhra Pradesh then managed a 3-1 victory over Kerala, with goals from Sai Kumar Metta, Nandiminto Akhil Venkat, and Dodium Subramanyam Hemanth Kumar. Kerala's Captain Muhammed Aslam scored the lone goal for his team.
Karnataka won 6-1 against Delhi, led by Captain Sunil PB's hat-trick. Jadhav Pavan Kesu, Dhruva Bs, and Aryan Uthappa Mt each added a goal, while Delhi's Sunil Kumar scored a consolation goal. Bengal triumphed over Gujarat 3-0, with Captain Rohit Kujur, Vivek Kumar Singh, and Md Sakib Ali scoring. Tamil Nadu and Jharkhand concluded the day with a 1-1 draw, featuring goals by Roshan Ekka and Anand Y.
