An FIR has been registered against key political figures in Karnataka, including Leader of Opposition Chalavadi Narayanaswamy and BJP MLC C T Ravi. The charges stem from an unlawful assembly during a protest demanding the resignation of a minister over controversy surrounding a contractor's suicide.
The protest took place at the Race Course road junction, with the BJP leaders calling for the removal of Rural Development and Panchayat Raj Minister Priyank Kharge. The protestors held Kharge accountable in connection to the recent suicide of a civil contractor in Bidar.
Authorities reported that no permission was granted for the demonstration, leading to legal proceedings as per the Karnataka Open Place Disfigurement Act and other legal provisions. The FIR was based on a complaint by a Police Sub-Inspector at High Grounds police station.
