Avinash Sable, the national record holder in the 3000m steeplechase, is poised to make his debut at the Diamond League Final in Brussels. The event, which concludes the season, will also feature star javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra.
Sable, who finished 14th in the overall Diamond League standings, earned his spot among 12 competitors for the winner-takes-all race on Friday. Notably, four higher-ranked athletes bowed out due to various reasons, opening up the opportunity for Sable.
The highly anticipated two-day finale runs on September 13 and 14. Sable will compete on the first day in the men's 3000m steeplechase, while Chopra takes part in the men's javelin throw event on the second day. The winners will receive a coveted 'Diamond Trophy', USD 30,000, and a wildcard entry to the World Athletics Championships.
