Jannik Sinner Remains Hopeful Despite Wrist Injury Ahead of U.S. Open Final
Jannik Sinner, set to compete in the U.S. Open final, sustained a wrist injury during his semi-final win over Jack Draper but remains hopeful for the final. Despite receiving medical attention during the match, Sinner is optimistic about his performance and anticipates a challenging final against Taylor Fritz.
U.S. Open finalist Jannik Sinner is optimistic that the wrist injury he sustained during Friday's semi-final win over Jack Draper will not hinder his performance in the final.
Sinner, the top-seeded and first Italian man to reach a U.S. Open singles final, received medical attention on the court during the grueling straight-set victory in the New York heat as Draper vomited multiple times.
'The physio loosened it up fast on court, so I felt OK initially. It later went away by playing,' Sinner said. Facing American 12th seed Taylor Fritz, Sinner expects a tough match against a home favorite seeking to end the U.S.'s 21-year men's Grand Slam drought.
