Indian shot-putter Hokato Sema, a landmine-blast survivor, achieved a career-best throw of 14.65 metres to secure a bronze medal in the men's F57 category at the Paralympic Games on Friday.
The 40-year-old Dimapur native, who previously won bronze at the Hangzhou Para Games, showed steady improvement after a modest start of 13.88m, gradually surpassing the 14m mark with subsequent throws.
Sema, the only athlete from Nagaland at the Paris Paralympics, achieved his best on his fourth throw, exceeding his previous personal best of 14.49m. Meanwhile, fellow Indian athlete Rana Soman finished fifth with a best effort of 14.07m.
