Former Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat resigned from her position with the Indian Railways on Friday, citing personal reasons. The announcement has sparked speculation that Phogat may be gearing up to join the Congress party.

In a post on X, Vinesh shared a picture of her resignation letter and expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the Railways. She was employed as an Officer on Special Duty (OSD) with Northern Railways.

"At this point in my life, I have decided to separate myself from the railway service and have submitted my resignation to the competent authorities of the Indian Railways," Phogat stated. The news follows her recent meeting with Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, fueling rumors of her political aspirations.

Vinesh had previously quit her wrestling career after a disqualification from the 50kg gold medal match at the Paris Olympics due to a weight issue. In her resignation letter, she mentioned personal reasons and family circumstances for her decision to leave her Railways position.

Phogat requested that her resignation be accepted immediately and offered to deposit one month's salary in lieu of the notice period.
