American tennis player Jessica Pegula stunned the world number one Iga Swiatek, defeating her 6-2, 6-4 to advance to her first major semi-final at the U.S. Open.
In her seventh Grand Slam quarter-final appearance, the 6th seed Pegula capitalized on Swiatek's inconsistent forehand, celebrating her significant victory in front of a supportive home crowd at Arthur Ashe Stadium.
Swiatek, who had withdrawn from the Canadian Open due to fatigue, struggled with her serve throughout the match and committed 41 unforced errors. Pegula's next opponent will be Czech player Karolina Muchova.
