Star England batter Joe Root has solidified his position as the leading batsman according to the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) rankings update. Root's exceptional performances with the bat have given him a significant lead in the ICC Test Batting Rankings.

Root, now holding 922 rating points, extends his advantage to 63 points over New Zealand's Kane Williamson, thanks to consecutive centuries. Despite his brilliance, Root was overshadowed in the second Test against Sri Lanka by Gus Atkinson, whose all-round performance earned him the Player of the Match title and notable jumps across the rankings.

Atkinson's achievement of scoring a century and claiming a five-wicket haul at a historic venue propelled him 48 spots into the top 20 for All-Rounders and the top 30 for bowlers. Meanwhile, Sri Lankan players Kamindu Mendis and Asitha Fernando also saw improvements in their rankings following their performances in the series.

In Pakistan, Bangladesh's dominant series win resulted in significant rankings boosts. Litton Das's heroic efforts moved him to 15th in the batting rankings, while Mehedy Hasan Miraz climbed to 75th with the bat and 7th among all-rounders. Bowlers Hasan Mahmud and Nahid Rana achieved career-best positions.

The West Indies and the Dutch T20I tri-series with the USA and Canada saw minor adjustments in the T20I rankings. Nicolas Pooran's swift 35 from 13 balls elevated him to eighth in the batting ranks, with teammate Shai Hope also making strides. America's Harmeet Singh made the most significant jump on the bowling front, moving 48 spots.
