Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy announced on Sunday that securing 15 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections would signify a genuine victory for Congress in Telangana. He said the 2023 Assembly election win was merely the semifinals, highlighting that the ultimate goal is for Rahul Gandhi to become Prime Minister by 2029.

Addressing the gathering at the oath-taking ceremony of the new Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) President, Mahesh Kumar Goud, at Gandhi Bhavan, Reddy emphasized the need for relentless efforts to achieve this aim. Telangana has 17 Lok Sabha seats. In the 2024 general elections, BJP and Congress each won eight seats, while AIMIM secured one.

Reddy lauded his government for delivering on Rahul Gandhi's election promise of waiving farm loans up to Rs2 lakhs, benefiting 23 lakh farmers. He also mentioned the implementation of six guarantees announced by Sonia Gandhi, including enhancing the Rajiv Arogyasri health scheme and providing free electricity up to 200 units. Moreover, his government introduced a Rs500 bonus per quintal for fine-quality paddy and secured 30,000 jobs within three months of taking power.

Additionally, the Chief Minister highlighted the establishment of the Young India Skill University and ongoing efforts to promote Hyderabad as a cosmopolitan city. Reddy urged the party high command to appoint a full-time TPCC president to make Telangana a national role model.
