Sumit Antil, an Indian javelin thrower, has overcome significant obstacles to achieve Paralympic glory. Carrying a back injury for over a year, he followed his physio's advice to cut out his beloved sweets and lost 12 kilograms in two months ahead of the games.
Antil's dedication paid off when he defended his Paralympic title with a record throw of 70.59m, bettering his previous mark from the Tokyo Paralympics. Despite the pain, he continued to train rigorously, taking painkillers to stay competitive.
His coach, Arun Kumar, and his team played crucial roles in his success. Antil aims to rest and recover from his injury before resuming training to meet future challenges. His journey from a wrestler's dream, halted by an accident in 2015, to Paralympic champion is inspirational.
