Indian para-athletes Nishad Kumar and Preethi Pal garnered silver and bronze medals respectively at the Paris Paralympics, marking a significant achievement for India on Sunday. Shuttler Suhas Yathiraj also positioned himself for further glory by advancing to the final for a second consecutive time.
Competing in track and field events, Preethi Pal made history by becoming the first Indian woman athlete to win two medals at the Paralympics. Meanwhile, Nishad Kumar clinched his second successive silver medal in the men's high jump T47 category. Their feats contributed significantly to India ending Day 4 with seven medals and rising to 27th in the rankings.
Suhas Yathiraj, a silver medallist from the Tokyo Games, is poised to become the first Indian shuttler to win back-to-back medals at the Paralympics after defeating compatriot Sukant Kadam in the men's singles SL4 semi-final. Meanwhile, Manisha Ramadass has also secured a medal, while star shooter Avani Lekhara missed out on a podium finish in her event.
