In an impressive display at the Paris Paralympics, Indian shuttler Suhas Yathiraj secured his second successive silver medal in men's singles SL4. The 41-year-old, who is also an IAS officer, lost in straight games to France's Lucas Mazur in the final on Monday.
Suhas, who was born with a congenital deformity in his left ankle, faced a formidable opponent in Mazur, the current favorite. Despite his tentative performance, Suhas's efforts were commendable, although he lost 9-21, 13-21 in a one-sided match.
With this silver, Suhas added to India's medal tally in para-badminton at the Paris Paralympics, bringing the total to four. The tally includes a gold by Kumar Nitesh in SL3 and a silver and bronze by Thulasimathi Murugesan and Manisha Ramadass in women's singles SU5, respectively.
