Iran, amid mounting tensions in the Middle East, launched a satellite into space using a rocket built by the country's Revolutionary Guard, state-run media reported. The move has heightened concerns about Tehran's ballistic missile advancement.
Footage released showed the rocket launching from a mobile launcher near Shahroud. Analysts confirmed it reached orbit. However, the event comes during heightened regional tensions, including the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict and Iran's continued uranium enrichment.
The satellite, Chamran-1, launched by the Qaem-100 rocket, aims to test orbital maneuvering technology. The launch, praised by General Hossein Salami, saw Iran overcoming international sanctions. The US State Department reiterated concerns over Iran's missile capabilities. This follows the expiration of UN sanctions last October and differing approaches by Iran's former and current leadership.
