Indian shuttlers Mandeep Kaur and Palak Kohli were eliminated on Sunday from the Paris Paralympics after suffering contrasting defeats in their respective women's singles quarterfinals at La Chapelle Arena.
In the SL3 category, Mandeep Kaur could not pose much of a challenge to Nigeria's third seed, Bolaji Mariam Eniola, losing 8-21, 9-21 in just 23 minutes. This marked Mandeep's second consecutive loss to Eniola, having previously been defeated by the Nigerian in the Group stage.
Meanwhile, in the SL4 category, para world championship bronze medallist Palak Kohli went down fighting 19-21, 15-21 to Indonesia's Khalimatus Sadiyah in a 28-minute match. The SL4 category is for standing athletes with less severe impairments than those in the SL3 category.
Later in the day, other Indian players are scheduled to compete, with Manisha Ramdass facing Japan's Mamiko Toyoda in the SU5 category and Nithya Sivan Sumathy taking on Poland's Oliwia Szmigiel in the SH6 category. Furthermore, the men's singles semifinal in the SL4 category will feature an all-Indian clash between Suhas Yathiraj and Sukant Kadam, while Nitesh Kumar will contend with Japan's Daisuke Fujihara in the SL3 category.
