India continues to make significant strides at the ongoing Paris Paralympics, with para sprinter Preethi Pal securing a bronze medal in the Women's T35 100m race on Friday. Preethi clocked 14.21 seconds, a personal best for her, to earn the third position.

China's Xia Zhou and Qianqian Guo took first and second place, respectively. Zhou clinched the gold medal with a season-best time of 13.58 seconds, while Guo bagged the silver with her personal best of 13.74 seconds. In the World Para Athletics Championship, Preethi had previously won bronze medals in both the 100m and 200m events in 2024, securing her quota for the Paris Paralympics.

Earlier in the day, Avani Lekhara struck gold in the women's 10m air rifle final, and shooter Mona Agarwal won bronze in the same event. India has sent its largest-ever Paralympics contingent of 84 athletes across 12 sports to Paris 2024, aiming to surpass its record-setting performance at Tokyo 2020, where it won 19 medals, including five golds.
