In a transformative move aimed at empowering retired athletes, Sports Minister Mansukh Mandaviya unveiled the 'Retired Sportsperson Empowerment Training' (RESET) programme on Thursday. This initiative seeks to arm former athletes with essential skills and knowledge to enhance their employability.

The launch coincided with National Sports Day, commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. Mandaviya emphasized that the RESET programme would bridge generational gaps by leveraging the expertise of retired athletes to inspire and nurture future sports champions.

The programme is open to athletes aged 20-50 who have achieved national or international acclaim. Applications are now being accepted through a dedicated portal, and the pilot phase will be conducted by the Lakshmibai National Institute of Physical Education (LNIPE). Successful participants will receive both online and practical training, internships, and placement assistance.
