Logan Sargeant, the sole American driver in Formula 1, has been replaced by Argentinian Franco Colapinto at Williams, effective immediately for the Italian Grand Prix. Sargeant, who scored only one point in 36 races since joining Williams in 2023, crashed during last week's Dutch Grand Prix.

Williams' team principal James Vowles announced the decision, emphasizing the need to maximize points in a 'tight midfield battle' with a recent car upgrade. Colapinto, currently sixth in the F2 standings, will join Alex Albon as Sargeant's replacement. Another American driver, Carlos Sainz Jr., is set to join Williams next season.

Teammate Albon expressed his support for Sargeant on social media, and speculation suggests that Sargeant, a Florida native, might move to IndyCar next season with Prema Racing. Vowles affirmed the team's appreciation for Sargeant's contributions, despite his difficulties in matching his teammate's performance.
