James Rodríguez Returns to Spanish League with Rayo Vallecano
James Rodríguez has signed with Rayo Vallecano, marking his return to the Spanish league four years after leaving Real Madrid. The Colombian playmaker joins the club as it celebrates its centennial season, following his standout performance in the Copa America.
James Rodríguez is making a triumphant return to the Spanish league, this time with Madrid's Rayo Vallecano. The club announced on Monday that it has signed the Colombian playmaker, who left Spain four years ago to join Everton in the Premier League.
The 33-year-old had his contract with Brazil's Sao Paulo terminated after an impressive Copa America campaign, where he earned six assists and was named the tournament's most valuable player. Rodríguez reportedly had offers from clubs in Saudi Arabia and the United States, but chose to join Rayo Vallecano.
Rayo Vallecano, celebrating its centennial season, has started their league campaign with a 2-1 win at Real Sociedad and a 0-0 draw at Getafe. 'I feel great joy to join a historic club like Rayo,' Rodríguez said. 'I really want to do things well. I feel that responsibility wherever I go. I like to win, especially in such an important year for the club.'
