Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports and Labour & Employment, Mansukh Mandaviya, has called on all citizens to participate in outdoor sports for at least one hour in observance of National Sports Day. This initiative is part of the government's broader efforts to foster physical fitness and a sports culture nationwide.

Echoing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's mantra, "Khelega India, Khilega India" (When India plays, India blossoms), Mandaviya emphasized that the Fit India Movement is designed for every citizen. He stated, "Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi's dream is to make India a fit nation. The Fit India Movement is a programme for every citizen, and I invite you all to be part of this nationwide celebration on this year's National Sports Day." Mandaviya stressed the importance of advancing the Fit India Movement, underlining that maintaining health and staying active is a collective responsibility. "Play any sport, stay fit!" he urged.

The minister highlighted that National Sports Day is an occasion to honor sports heroes and remember the importance of sports in maintaining a balanced and healthy lifestyle. He appealed to families and friends to engage in sports activities on National Sports Day as a step towards building a fit and active India.

National Sports Day is celebrated annually on August 29, commemorating the birth anniversary of hockey legend Major Dhyan Chand. It serves as a tribute to sports icons who have brought international acclaim to India. (ANI)
