In a landmark development for Indian football, the Indian Super League (ISL) confirmed on Saturday that Kolkata's Mohammedan Sporting Club (MSC) will be the latest addition to the league. This expansion takes the total number of teams competing in the 2024-25 season to 13.

The announcement follows MSC's triumphant 2023-24 I-League campaign, where they secured the title, making them the second team after Punjab FC to earn promotion to the ISL. Mohammedan Sporting, one of India's oldest football clubs, brings a rich legacy to the top-tier competition.

The upcoming ISL season, scheduled to begin on September 13, will feature 13 teams, including heavyweights such as Bengaluru FC, Chennaiyin FC, FC Goa, Hyderabad FC, Jamshedpur FC, Kerala Blasters FC, Mumbai City FC, NorthEast United FC, and Odisha FC, along with the three iconic Kolkata clubs: Mohun Bagan Super Giant, East Bengal FC, and Mohammedan Sporting.
