In a remarkable display of skill and perseverance, Gurugram's Dhruv Sheoran captured his first title on the Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI) at the Chennai Pro Championship 2024. Sheoran's three-under 69 in the final round saw him finish at 16-under 272, securing a comfortable three-stroke victory at the TNGF Cosmo Golf Course.

Sheoran, who previously won twice on the PGTI Feeder Tour in 2018, ascended from 23rd to 14th in the PGTI Ranking with his latest win. The golfer earned Rs 7.5 lakh for his effort. Meanwhile, fellow Gurugram-based pro, Manu Gandas, carded a 72 in the final round to finish as runner-up for the second consecutive week, with a total of 13-under 275, collecting INR 5 lakh in prize money and consolidating his second position in the PGTI Order of Merit.

Bangladesh's Badal Hossain achieved his best finish on the PGTI, secured third place at 12-under 276. Sheoran, the overnight joint leader alongside Gandas, had an early lead with an eagle and a birdie on the first and third holes but faced challenges with bogeys on the fifth and eighth. He steadied himself with pars until the 15th before clinching birdies on the 16th and 18th, sealing his victory. Reflecting on his win, Sheoran shared his journey of overcoming mental setbacks through meditation and mental training.
