In a commendable display of patience and skill, Mushfiqur Rahim secured his 11th Test century, his first against Pakistan, narrowing the home side's lead to just 59 runs by lunch on the fourth day of the opening Test.

Mushfiqur remained unbeaten on 101, leading Bangladesh to 389-6 at the break, with Mehidy Hasan Miraz not out on 17. Despite Pakistan's pace attack, Bangladesh's lower order withstood the pressure on a slow wicket, adding 73 runs after resuming their innings on 316-5.

Pakistan's bowlers struggled to make breakthroughs, with only Naseem Shah (2-86) managing to dismiss overnight half-centurion Litton Das (56) early on. Mushfiqur, who was on 59 when he successfully appealed an lbw decision, reached his century just before lunch. His calm and composed innings, featuring 12 boundaries, saw Bangladesh close in on Pakistan's first innings total of 448-6 declared.
