Paris Olympics silver medallist Neeraj Chopra clinched second place in the Lausanne Diamond League javelin throw on Thursday, with a season-best effort of 89.49m.

At 26, Chopra was positioned fourth until his fifth attempt, when he marked 85.58m. His final throw measured an impressive 89.49m. Anderson Peters of Grenada won the event with a stunning 90.61m throw, while Germany's Julian Weber finished third with 87.08m.

Despite nursing a persistent groin injury, Chopra managed a silver in the Paris Olympics on August 8 with an 89.45m throw. He had previously made history by winning gold at the Tokyo Olympics.
