Lando Norris Reflects on Season and Vows to Improve
McLaren's Lando Norris evaluates his performance this Formula One season as not up to championship standards. Despite being Max Verstappen's closest competitor, Norris lags 78 points behind. Reflecting on missed opportunities, Norris remains optimistic for improvement, emphasizing the need for perfection in upcoming races.
McLaren's Lando Norris has admitted that his performance this season has not met the standards required for a Formula One championship contender.
Though currently the closest rival to triple world champion Max Verstappen, the 24-year-old Briton trails by 78 points after 14 of the season's 24 races. Speaking ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Norris said, "After the first half of the season, I have not performed at the level of a world champion and it is as simple as that."
Norris secured his first F1 win in Miami in May but has faced challenges since, including finishing behind Verstappen in Belgium despite starting ahead. Australian teammate Oscar Piastri has recently outperformed him, which adds to Norris' resolve to improve. "I want to be optimistic and say there are still chances," he stated, stressing the need for perfect execution in upcoming races.
