Lewis Hamilton declared on Thursday that the time is ripe for a Formula One race in Africa, as he collaborates with Rwanda and South Africa behind the scenes to make this vision a reality.

The seven-time world champion shared his thoughts at the Dutch Grand Prix following his travels across Africa during the sport's August hiatus. 'The time's 100% right. We can't be adding races in other locations and continue to ignore Africa, which the rest of the world just takes from. No one gives anything to Africa,' said the Mercedes driver.

Hamilton believes hosting a Grand Prix in Africa would showcase the continent's allure and boost tourism. 'There is at least one track that's ready. In the short term, we should just get on that track and have that part of the calendar, and then work on building out something really cool,' he asserted.
