BJP candidate from Reasi Assembly Constituency, Kuldeep Raj Dubey, asserted on Thursday that militancy in Jammu and Kashmir has seen a significant decline since the BJP government assumed power at the Centre and the abrogation of Article 370. He urged the National Conference and Congress to clarify their stance on recent terror incidents.
'Our security forces are giving a befitting reply to terrorists remaining in Jammu and Kashmir and will wipe them out,' Dubey told ANI. He also highlighted the surge in tourism over the past few years, leading to decreased unemployment in the region.
Polling in Jammu and Kashmir is scheduled for the third week of September, the first in nearly a decade. Earlier in the day, BJP candidate Thakur Randhir Singh from Kalakote-Sunderbani described recent terrorist activities in Rajouri as attempts to disrupt the elections. He criticized Pakistan for instigating trouble, affecting youth education and safety.
On Wednesday, Lt Gen MV Suchindra Kumar, Army Commander Northern Command, along with 16 Corps Commander Lt Gen Navin Sachdeva, visited forward areas along the Line of Control in Sunderbani Sector to assess the security situation. The visit included briefings on synergy between security forces and operational readiness. The Commander also visited supporting units and encouraged troops to maintain high morale and professionalism for future challenges.
