In a dramatic turn of events at the 63rd Subroto Cup Sub Junior Boys International Football Tournament, a coin toss determined whether Army Boys Sports Company, Bengaluru, would advance to the quarterfinals. Tied on points and goal difference, neither Army Boys nor NNMHSS Chelembra, Kerala could break the deadlock in Group A, with both teams finishing their group stage campaign on seven points and a goal difference of plus six.

Needing to wait for the outcome of the Kerala school's match against Maharana Pratap Sports College, Dehradun, Army Boys secured their spot after an injury-time goal by Maharana Pratap led to the coin toss favoring them. St. Stephen's School, Chandigarh also secured a quarterfinal berth, topping Group G after a goalless draw against Perpetual Succour Convent High School, Goa. Meanwhile, Manikpara Vivekananda Vidyapeeth, West Bengal stormed into the quarterfinals with a dominant 6-1 victory over Govt. Boys Senior Secondary School, Thanjavur, Tamil Nadu.

Bangladesh Krira Shikkha Protishtan thrashed Hyderabad Public School 13-0, finishing Group C unbeaten with three wins. Major Dhyanchand Sports College, Uttar Pradesh also moved to the knockouts after a 4-0 win over SFS Higher Secondary School, Nagaland, which eliminated defending champions Minerva Public School.
