Navarro Storms into Monterrey Open Quarter-finals

Second-seeded Emma Navarro of the United States staged a thrilling comeback to defeat Camila Osorio of Colombia 3-6, 7-5, 7-6 (2) and secure a spot in the quarter-finals of the Monterrey Open early Thursday. The match concluded at 12:35 am, almost three hours after it commenced.
Navarro, who clinched the 2021 NCAA championship as a freshman at the University of Virginia, now prepares to face ninth-seeded Magdalena Frech of Poland in this WTA 500 tournament held on Sonoma Club's hard courts. Earlier, Frech narrowly defeated Lina Glushko 6-7 (2), 6-3, 6-1.
Navarro secured her maiden WTA Tour title in Hobart in January and previously reached the Trophee Clarins final in May. Meanwhile, Osorio has clinched two WTA titles on clay in Bogota, Colombia.
