Czech rider Pavel Bittner achieved his first Grand Tour victory in a thrilling photo finish against Wout van Aert during stage five of the Vuelta a Espana on Wednesday.

Van Aert, aiming for his second stage win in Seville, narrowly missed out as the 21-year-old Bittner from DSM-Firmenich-PostNL edged him out. This marked a significant milestone in Bittner's young career.

Despite the narrow loss, Van Aert (Visma-Lease a Bike) retained the points green jersey, while Australia's Kaden Groves secured third place. Primoz Roglic remained the overall leader after safely finishing within the peloton.
