A Class 12 student from Sanpada in Navi Mumbai has been missing since he left home last week, expressing his desire to quit studies and work instead, police revealed on Thursday.

The student, who attends a college in Chembur, informed his parents on September 6 about his decision. He subsequently packed his bag and headed to Pune. His family attempted to contact him, and he confirmed he was on a Pune-bound train. When later attempts to reach him were unsuccessful, he had blocked their numbers, officials from Sanpada police station reported.

A missing person's report filed by the boy's father led to a case being registered under section 137 (2) (kidnapping) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) against unidentified individuals. An ongoing search operation is in progress to locate the missing student, according to police.
