Chelsea have officially signed Portuguese forward Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid, the Premier League club announced on Wednesday. The deal spans seven years.

While financial terms remain undisclosed, reports indicate a transfer fee of approximately 46 million pounds ($59.95 million). Felix previously impressed during a six-month loan spell at Chelsea last season, scoring four goals in 20 appearances. He spent the last campaign on loan at Barcelona, where he netted 10 goals in 44 games.

Felix originally joined Atletico Madrid from Benfica in 2019 for a club-record fee of 126 million euros ($140 million). With Atletico, he scored 34 goals in 131 matches, contributing to their LaLiga title win in 2021. Speaking to Chelsea's website, Felix expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "After two loans, Chelsea and Barca, I needed to stay permanently in one place. There's no better place for me to be than Chelsea."

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca highlighted Felix's versatility, praising his ability to play in various positions. The club is set to face Swiss side Servette in the Europa Conference League playoff stage on Thursday, followed by a Premier League match against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Sunday.
