Samoan middle-order batter Darius Visser set a new world record in T20 international cricket by scoring 39 runs in a single over against Vanuatu on Tuesday. This achievement took place during the T20 World Cup East Asia-Pacific Region Qualifier in Apia.

Visser's extraordinary performance included hitting six sixes and benefiting from three no balls bowled by Vanuatu pacer Nalin Nipiko. In just his third T20I appearance, the 28-year-old right-hander scored a commanding 132 off 62 balls, featuring five fours and 14 sixes.

His efforts not only set a record but also made him the first Samoan to score a hundred in this format, guiding Samoa to a total of 174 all out. Despite a strong reply from Vanuatu, which ended at 164 for nine, Samoa won the match by 10 runs. Nipiko, the bowler on the receiving end of Visser's blitz, nearly redeemed himself with the top score for Vanuatu at 73 off 52 balls.
