Wrestler Vinesh Phogat was warmly welcomed in Delhi on Saturday after returning from the Paris Olympics. The roadshow saw the presence of prominent wrestlers Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik, and Congress MP Deepender Singh Hooda.

Sakshi Malik praised Vinesh, saying, 'What Vinesh has done for the country, very few people do it.' Bajrang Punia echoed these sentiments, noting the overwhelming love from the public for Vinesh.

Earlier at Delhi's Indira Gandhi National Airport, Vinesh received a rousing reception. She expressed gratitude, saying, 'I thank all the countrymen, I am very fortunate.' Her emotional return was marked by her disqualification from the 50 kg gold medal bout due to being 100 gms overweight. Subsequently, the Court of Arbitration for Sport dismissed her appeal for a joint silver. She announced her retirement on August 8, a day after her disqualification.

Fans gathered in large numbers, showering her with petals. In an emotional note, Vinesh reflected on her wrestling journey, leaving a possibility for a return in the future. She wrote about her dreams growing up, her father's aspirations for her, and her mother's simple wishes for her children's independence.
