England defender Kieran Trippier has announced his retirement from international football at the age of 33, following a successful career that saw him earn 54 caps.

Trippier, who plays for Newcastle United, started six matches at the recent European Championship in Germany, only to be benched for the final against Spain in favor of Luke Shaw. Reflecting on his journey, Trippier said, "I never thought as a young lad from Bury that I would play for my country let alone achieve 54 caps. It’s been one of the biggest honours of my life to represent my country at 4 major tournaments."

He went on to thank former manager Gareth Southgate, the coaching staff, and his teammates for their unwavering support. Trippier also extended his gratitude to England fans for their incredible support, adding, "I want to wish interim manager Lee Carsley, the coaching staff, and the team all the best for the future."
