Iago Aspas stole the spotlight in Celta Vigo's thrilling 2-1 victory over Deportivo Alaves in Friday's Spanish league match. Aspas narrowly avoided an early red card after a VAR review and saw a goal disallowed before scoring the match-winner in the 84th minute.

The 37-year-old forward, pivotal for Celta last season, continued his form by netting the decisive goal. Alaves initially took the lead through Kike Garcia, but Williot Swedberg's outstanding strike leveled the score before Aspas clinched the win. Alaves coach Luis Garcia remarked, 'Iago is eternal. He gets one chance and he puts it away.'

In another match, Las Palmas and Sevilla played out a 2-2 draw. Sevilla led through an own goal by Alex Suarez and a strike by Juanlu Sanchez, while Las Palmas leveled twice, thanks to an own goal by Tanguy Nianzo and a late equalizer by Sandro Ramírez. The results leave Celta Vigo temporarily on top of the La Liga standings.
