Former All Blacks skipper Sam Cane is poised to make a return to test rugby from the bench this Saturday as New Zealand aims to regain their footing in the Rugby Championship against Argentina at Auckland's Eden Park. Cane, who will retire from internationals at the end of the season, has been recalled for the crucial match following a disappointing 38-30 defeat to the Pumas in Wellington last week.

In response to the loss, coach Scott Robertson has implemented four changes to the starting lineup and restructured the backline. Will Jordan has been elevated to the starting position on the right wing, Caleb Clarke replaces Sevu Reece on the left, and Rieko Ioane returns to outside center, supplanting Anton Lienert-Brown. Tamaiti Williams will assume the loosehead prop role for the injured Ethan de Groot.

Lienert-Brown and winger Mark Tele'a will move to a bench that now includes the experienced 95-cap flanker Cane, who will cover the back row, replacing youngster Wallace Sititi. Robertson emphasized the team's introspection and renewed focus: "We've reflected deeply on our performance and our preparation individually and collectively is something we have all owned. Our intent and focus has shifted solely to Eden Park." The All Blacks have maintained an unbeaten record at Eden Park since 1994.
