An Indian-origin man, Pallaniappan Ravindran, has been sentenced to eight weeks in jail for assisting in the fraud of over SGD 450,000 from the Football Association of Singapore (FAS). The 51-year-old was found guilty of conspiring with former FAS deputy director Rikram Jit Singh Randhir Singh.

Ravindran, who managed sports merchandise company Myriad Sports & Events, helped Singh and his wife, Asya Kirin Kames, to divert funds from FAS by pretending Myriad was the supplier when, in fact, a company linked to Singh was providing the goods. The fraudulent activities led to the association being cheated of a total of SGD457,605.

Singh, identified as the mastermind by Deputy Public Prosecutor Thiagesh Sukumaran, was sentenced to 55 weeks in jail earlier this year. Despite facing multiple charges, Asya was granted a discharge from the case, thus avoiding further prosecution.
