Transport Woes Plague Norway’s Shooting Coach at Paris Olympics

Norway's shooting coach, Tore Brovold, the 2008 Olympic silver medallist, is encountering significant logistical challenges at the Paris Olympics. Due to insufficient room availability at the Athletes' Village, Brovold has had to stay away from his skeet shooters.

Chateauroux, a small town in central France with a population below 50,000, is hosting all shooting events. This location is over two hours by train from Paris, isolating around 340 Olympians from the main Games hub.

The limited public transport within Chateauroux, although free, exacerbates the commute issues for athletes, coaches, and officials. Brovold missed a key training session when the organisers unexpectedly changed the bus schedule overnight.

"These Games have been a disaster on the transport front. I went to the bus stop near the train station last night but this morning they changed the timings, and the athletes had to train without me," Brovold, who has also coached Indian shotgun shooters, told PTI.

Due to the inadequate room availability, Brovold chose to stay in a hotel outside the Village to allow a shooter to stay in the Village instead. He mentioned organisers are offering free accommodation outside due to the shortage of rooms.
