CAS judges dismissed appeals from Russia to be reinstated as the gold medalists in the team event. The Russian team lost the Olympic title in January when star skater Kamila Valieva was disqualified and handed a ban due to a long-running doping case.

The court's latest ruling ensures the US team will receive their gold medals, an honor they initially missed out on in Beijing in February 2022. The International Olympic Committee plans special medal ceremonies during the second week of the Paris Olympics to celebrate athletes whose standings have been upgraded following doping resolutions. Valieva's positive doping test, disclosed on the final day of the team event, had led to the delay in medal presentations.

As Valieva's scores were annulled, Russia was dropped to third place in the revised results authenticated by the International Skating Union. Meanwhile, the Canadian team is awaiting a separate CAS decision, seeking an upgrade from fourth to third place, which could potentially remove Russia from the podium entirely.

CAS has stated it is currently unable to specify when the final verdict on the Canadian team's appeal will be announced.
