The opening day of the 2nd Hockey India Sub Junior Men and Women East Zone Championship 2024 witnessed resounding victories for Jharkhand and Odisha in the women's category and Odisha and Manipur in the men's category. The matches were held at the Maulana Md Tayabullah Hockey Stadium in Guwahati.

Hockey Jharkhand faced Assam Hockey in the first women's match of the day and dominated with an 18-0 win. Key goalscorers included Sandeepa Kumari, Pushpa Manjhi, and Sushmita Guria, who each scored multiple goals. In the second women's match, Hockey Association of Odisha overwhelmed Hockey Bengal with a 15-0 victory, with standout performances from Ashika Sadam, Priyanka Minz, and Sonima Goud.

In the men's category, Hockey Association of Odisha clashed with Hockey Bengal and emerged victorious with a 13-0 scoreline. Notable scorers were Salman Lakra and Mandeep Kerketta. Meanwhile, Manipur Hockey defeated Hockey Bihar 7-1, with key contributions from Akoijam Malemnganba and Lisham Max Singh.
