Domagoj Vida Retires from International Soccer After Illustrious 14-Year Career

Domagoj Vida, the defender for Croatia, has retired from international soccer after a distinguished 14-year career, the Croatian Football Federation announced on Sunday. Vida, 35, earned his first international cap in May 2010 and accumulated a total of 105 appearances for his national team.

Vida was instrumental in Croatia's journey to the final of the 2018 World Cup and their third-place achievement in the 2022 World Cup. 'It is an honor to wear the most beautiful jersey in the world once in your career,' Vida stated. 'And when you do it 105 times, you play in seven major competitions... you can just be infinitely grateful for such a privilege.'

The former Bayer Leverkusen and Besiktas player is currently playing for Greek top-flight club AEK Athens.
