India's para-athlete Navdeep secured a silver medal after achieving a personal best in the men's javelin F41 final at the Paris Paralympics. Competing at the crowded Stade de France, Navdeep had an eventful start, with a foul on his first attempt due to crossing the line.
In his second throw, Navdeep showcased his talent, launching his javelin to an impressive 46.39m. He went on to break the Paralympic record with a third throw of 47.32m, briefly claiming the top spot. However, he followed this with another foul after crossing the line.
The competition intensified when Iran's Sadegh Beit Sayah set a new Paralympic record with a 47.64m throw, moving Navdeep to second place. Despite strong efforts in his remaining attempts, including a 46.02m throw in the penultimate round, Navdeep concluded his final throw without improvement, securing silver with his 47.32m effort.
While Navdeep celebrated his silver, India's quest for further medals proved challenging. Para-cyclists Arshad Shaik and Jyoti Gaderiya ended their races out of the top three positions. Arshad finished 28th in the men's C1-3 road race, and Jyoti came seventh in the women's C1-3 road race final.
Prachi Yadav finished eighth in the para-canoe final after qualifying with a third-place finish in the preliminary round. Additionally, para-swimmer Suyush Jadhav missed the podium, finishing fifth in the men's 50M butterfly S7 heats.
