Adam Peaty and other British swimmers expressed the need for a level playing field after 23 Chinese swimmers evaded punishment despite testing positive for a banned substance. WADA confirmed in April that these athletes tested positive for TMZ before the Tokyo Olympics in 2021.

WADA accepted CHINADA's findings that the positive tests were due to contamination, and an independent investigation found no mishandling by WADA. A World Aquatics audit also confirmed no mismanagement or cover-up by the governing body.

As the Paris 2024 Games approach, Peaty emphasized the importance of a 'fair fight' in the competition. Olympic gold medalist Tom Dean criticized the disparity in anti-doping standards, calling it a 'real shame'. Freya Colbert, 400 meters medley world champion, lamented the lack of rigorous testing for competitors from other countries.

Peaty remains focused on his preparations for Paris, despite distractions from doping controversies. 'All I've got to focus on is swimming the best I can,' he stated.
