Rafael Nadal has made a stunning return to the finals for the first time since the 2022 French Open. He overcame Duje Ajdukovic in a hard-fought match at the clay-court Nordea Open, winning 4-6, 6-3, 6-4.

Nadal had a challenging start, especially after a four-hour quarterfinal match against Mariano Navone. He found himself a break down in the second set before turning things around. 'My opponent had one of the best backhands that I played against,' Nadal noted.

The 38-year-old Spaniard did not participate in Wimbledon to avoid switching surfaces and risking injury. Nadal will face either Nuno Borges or Thiago Agustin Tirante in the final. This comeback coincides with his preparation for the Olympic tournament on clay at Roland Garros in Paris.
