Fifth seed Daniil Medvedev delivered a commanding performance to defeat unseeded Nuno Borges 6-0 6-1 6-3, advancing to the quarter-finals of the U.S. Open at Arthur Ashe Stadium on Monday. As the only former champion remaining in the men's draw, Medvedev's dominance was evident from the outset in this lopsided contest.

Medvedev completely outplayed Borges in the opening set, overwhelming the Portuguese with powerful baseline returns and impressive net play. While Borges managed to gain some support from the crowd by securing a game in the second set to go up 1-0, he continued to struggle with unforced errors.

A fire alarm resulted in a brief pause in play during the third set, but Medvedev quickly regained control, winning five of the next six games to close out the match. Medvedev will face either top seed Jannik Sinner or American Tommy Paul in the next round.
