Spain striker Alvaro Morata has signed a four-year contract with AC Milan, with an option to extend for an additional year, the Italian club confirmed on Friday.

The 31-year-old, who led Spain to the European Championship victory last Sunday, joins from Atletico Madrid, where he netted 21 goals this past season. Morata brings experience from top clubs like Real Madrid, Juventus, and Chelsea, accumulating over 200 club goals and 36 for Spain.

Milan, which last won Serie A in 2022 and holds seven Champions League titles, sees Morata as a key addition to their squad. He replaces Olivier Giroud, who has moved to Los Angeles FC, and will don the iconic No. 7 jersey. As part of a broader transformation, Milan has also appointed Paulo Fonseca to replace coach Stefano Pioli, following a disappointing season 19 points behind Inter Milan.
